RIM called Microsoft:

Blackberry devices will use Bing as the preferred search provider in the browser, and Bing will be the default search and map application for new devices presented to mobile operators, both in the United States and internationally

In 1997, Apple struck a similar deal. Microsoft invested $150 million in Apple and in return Apple agreed to make Microsoft's Internet Explorer the default browser on every Apple computer sold.
